At last January is behind us, and it’s time to look forward to spring and start getting prepared. Here are some Gardening Tips for February
In the vegetable Garden
Start chitting your early potatoes, stand them in a cool but frost free place indoors, somewhere with lots of sunlight is best. Standing them on end in an egg box is a great idea.
In the Flower Garden
This is an ideal time to plant new shrubs and trees including roses (perfect for valentines day). They can be purchased bare-root during this dormant period, which is a cheaper way to buy new plants. Make sure the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.
Soak the bare roots in a bucket of water before planting, and make sure you keep them well watered until they become established. Happy Gardening
